“KROK do Bezpeky” (STEP to safety): a campaign about simple rules of conduct in identifying sources of ionizing radiation

“Our goal is to stimulate citizens to respond consciously and correctly to radioactive findings”, - Olena Salnyk, Project Manager of the Chornobyl Research and Development Institute said about the launch of the “KROK do Bezpeky” campaign.

"Cooperation of public authorities in the international arena, analysis of legislation and amendments to Article 265 of the Criminal Code paved the way for a full-scale information campaign in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Cooperation with the regional state administration and the signing of a memorandum proved the importance of this project for the industrialized region. The project also works closely with the state-owned Association “Radon” and its business units. Without their technical capabilities and specialists, it is impossible to eliminate radiation threats and dangerous findings. They, as well as the SES, the National Police and local authorities will be at the forefront of this campaign. Its purpose is not only to inform, but also to stimulate citizens to consciously and correctly respond to cases of detection of ionizing radiation sources, " Olena Salnyk mentioned.
